Loyal to Vanguard

Deb liked investing with Vanguard.  Who could blame her?  She realized many years ago that low cost funds are one of the major determinants in whether an investment program is a success, or falls short of what it needs to be.  In fact, she used Vanguard to help build her portfolio by herself to $600,000.

Now Deb is to the point where she feels the need for some investment advice. She thinks the world has become more complicated in recent years, and she is right. Target funds, exchange traded funds, commodities, and the list goes on. Although she is still happy with Vanguard and wishes to keep her assets invested there, she worries that any advice obtained from them will be heavily slanted towards the purchase of Vanguard funds. Not only that, but it appears that their financial planning is very cookie cutter with nothing customized for her.

On the other hand, if she goes somewhere else for advice, who will hold her assets? She may like a certain financial advisor, but usually the advisor requires that their assets be moved on his investment platform. The advisor may push funds that his firm is affiliated. She may now get decent financial advice, but has lost the low cost Vanguard solution. It would appear that she is caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place, with no good alternative.

Deb is in luck however, as there are a few firms that separate the advice and custody. Even though associated with Charles Schwab, Contour Financial is one of these firms.  At a firm such as ours, she can get the customized financial planning and independent investment advice she requires, and still remain on the Vanguard platform. Other clients have had similar satisfying experiences with their advice, with their investments held at Fidelity or T. Rowe Price.  Sometimes people cannot move.  This is the case with people in 401(k) or 403(b) plans, for which little planning or advice is available.  Whatever the reason, there is a solution to this problem.  No one should be forced into this situation, and Contour Financial provides you with options.
